EMA Point-of-Care Ultrasound Essentials Course
Join us for an 8-hour day full of ultrasound education focusing on the essentials of point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS). In this course we cover important concepts that will help you begin to confidently incorporate POCUS into clinical decision making.
CME for the course will be provided by EMA! We are also offering this course with an optional question bank in collaboration with Core Ultrasound. The question bank is a great way to help you solidify your image interpretation skills! The question bank has over 3600 clips for you to use for training and development of pattern recognition. Introduction to Clinical Ultrasound
Understand essential physics principles
Review the basics of ultrasound machine knobs and modes
Develop the POCUS mindset
Assessment for Free Fluid
Learn to detect pleural, peritoneal, and pericardial fluid in both trauma and medical patients
Essential Cardiac Ultrasound
Understanding the essential cardiac views
Estimate left ventricular function
Evaluate for pericardial effusion
Estimate CVP using the inferior vena cava
Basic Lung Ultrasound
Evaluate for pneumothorax
Evaluate for pulmonary edema
Evaluate for pleural effusion
Procedural Guidance & Vascular Access
Understand utilization of ultrasound for vascular access and common procedures such as incision & drainage, thoracentesis, and paracentesis
